Any chance of a version that doesn't need .NET installed?

I was going to try out the screen capture tool a while ago, but when I saw that I need to install the .NET runtime I decided not to.
We test on some older hardware, and we like to keep the OS as original as possible, so not upgrading to IE6 and definately no .NET installation. It'd also be nice to have a Mac version :)
