Gemini v3.0.4 does not work according to the manual !

web-app

Hi, I have downloaded the manuals to v3.0.4 of Gemini, which I inteded to install on my laptop using Vista Ultimate (IIS7) and Microsoft SQL Server Express 2005. Works fine btw for my portal applications and with Visual Studio .NET 2005.

I tried a very much older version of Gemini and have been waiting for this release.

I started with downloading the automatic installation software.

- The webapp setup program (CounterSoftGeminiv304.exe)
- The database setup program (CounterSoftGeminiv304SampleDatabase.exe)

I have installed the webapp according to instructions by running the program CounterSoftGeminiv304.exe (GeminiInstallationGuide.pdf) and changed the security to Full trust mode in IIS7 admin.

I created a new dbo user named 'GeminiDBOwner' with a password 'gemini'.

Then I executed the program CounterSoftGeminiv304_SampleDatabase.exe to create the database, using the newly created database user. Everything looks ok.

When I try to start the application my headache starts. After 3 hours of struggle I at least got the logon page to display. Entering 'manager', 'manager' which made the app to enter an eternal loop.

After putting another hour in trying to find a wrong setting somewhere, I decided to start from scratch again doing it the manual way.

Same level as before. App installs fine. DB installs fine using the scripts enclosed from CounterSoft. Trying to login using 'admin', 'admin', and guess what. ETERNAL LOOP.

I believe that waiting for release 5.0 or so might be more sufficient as the present release is completely unstable - NOGO.

Thank you for a good working version 2.x.

Rgds/Gunnar

good  hint. I configured a new app pool for gemini and set the managed pipeline mode to "Classic" and identity to "LocalSystem" - it's working so far.

Thanks!
