Make sure that Gemini runs in its own application pool and it is not recycled too often.  If SQL server is on the same server, make sure it does not take up all system memory.

Additionally, check your database increment settings. A low increment will cause data and index fragmentation, try updating statistics on the gemini_issues table with fullscan.
