Bringing data into Gemini, for whatever reason, is a simple straightforward process. To do so you must have the “Bulk Operations” permission, which will give you access to the Import control on the Grid.

Steps to import your data

1. Navigate to the Gemini Grid and the project that you wish to import data into.

2. Click on the Import icon (see above) and you will be prompted with the Gemini Import wizard, as shown below:

3. Browse for the Excel or delimited (pipe/comma/tab) file that contains your data. This first row in this file must contain column headings for the data therein.

4. Once you have located your file, map the columns in your file to the fields that match the Project Template that your project is based on.

Gemini will read the column headings in your file and try to map them to column headings that match your data template. You need to check that this mapping is accurate and if the wizard has not (or more likely cannot) map from you inbound column to a column in your Project Template then you need to make the column assignment manually.

The data wizard import simply prompts at each step for the user to click on “Next” once they have finished a particular step.

5. Determine whether the lookup data values you have in the file should take on different values based on what is already in Gemini, should stay as they are, or if they are new – be added to Gemini. Gemini will go through every one of the lookup fields and give this prompt.

When all the field value mapping has been completed, Gemini will present the “Upload” button. Click on this to have your data uploaded and at the end Gemini will give a summary of all records processed and the number of records successfully uploaded.
