Test Case help you test specific scenarios by following pre-determined Steps and where the outcome of the test is compared to an Expected Result. It is also possible to define that the Test Case is executed with certain Preconditions.

Define Your Own Test Case

Use Custom Fields in order for you to totally customize the Test Case screen.

When defining a Custom Field for use within Testing, ensure you select the following option on the Custom Field definition.

Gemini Administrators can then define screens for use on Test Cases as follows:

Adding a Test Case

A Test Case can stand alone or attached to one or more Test Plans.

In order to create a standalone Test Case navigate to the Cases tab and click Add Test Case.

The Add Test Case screen should display and by default only the following data inputs are required:

  • Test Type – pick an appropriate test type that best describes the Test Case
  • Name – name the Test Case with a short yet succulent title
  • Description – provide a more detailed description to help people further understand and appreciate the Test Case
  • Preconditions – define anything that needs to be in place before testing can commence for this Test Case
  • Expected Result – define the expected outcome of the Test Case (this signals a PASS)
  • Assigned Resource – who will be performing the Test Case run?

Adding a Test Case to a Test Plan

When viewing a Test Plan you can also create a Test Case for it.

Steps

In order for the Tester to reach an outcome for the Test Case, Steps can be defined and then followed when the Test Case is run.

You can drag drop to re-order the Steps.

Deleting a Test Case

Test Cases can be deleted from the Cases tab.

Running a Test Case from Test Plan

When viewing a Test Plan you can choose to run Test Cases within that Test Plan.

Alternatively, you can also navigate to any individual Test Case and run standalone from any associated the Test Plan.
